You are still floating because you have oxygen in your lungs. But if you drowned from a large body of water like the sea, you will float because you have consumed large amounts of water. And one more thing, we have this thing called buoyancy. Ah huh. :]

Objects float because the air in the object causes it to rise because it is less denser than water. Objects float better in salt water because the salt makes the water more denser helping even heavier objects to float. -Kimberly P.S. I learned all this in 4th grade!!!!!!!!!!!

the human body can float on water because you are holding your breath of course!!!Yes. Basically, air floats on water. If you breath in a lot of air, then you will float. Also, fat floats, and so humans with some fat on their bodies would float better than humans without fat.

Because on average you are less dense than water. That is why anything floats on anything else. It is also true that the weight of the water you displace is equal to your weight.

Why wood floats on water?

the density of water is higher than the density of wood... & so an iron piece sinks & a ton of wood floats...

Are the human body and food made from the same material?

The human body and the food we eat are comprised of the same materials. A few key components we have in common are minerals, fat, water, and carbohydrates.

Is it natural for humans to swim?

It seems that humans swimming is a natural activity. The human body has a density that is slightly less than that of water. That allows the body to float naturally.

How often do sponges reproduce?

Why do dead body float on water?

Dead bodies float on water much the same way living bodies do. And yes, living bodies do float on water. But if you panic and exhale, you will sink. IF you stay calm and keep your lungs inflated you will float. This is because of density. Anything less dense than water floats, and anything more dense than water sinks. Our human bodies have a density close to that of water and we WILL float if we keep our chest expanded and lungs filled with air. When people drown, their lungs are full of water and they sink. After a number of hours, up to a few days, gases from decomposition trapped inside their body make them buoyant and they will float. Then carrion eaters, blow flies, and other flesh eating creatures will puncture through their tissues, releasing the trapped gases, and causing them to sink again.

How much hydrogen is in the human body?

Most of the hydrogen in our body floats around in the form of water. The human body is about 60% water and hydrogen only accounts for 11% of that water mass. Thus, roughly 6.6% of a typical human's body mass is hydrogen.

Why boiled rice sinks in water and dead body floats?

Rice is more dense than water , while the human body is very less dense than water

Why the dead body float on water?

Many gases produce in body of human. When the man die the water enter the human body and there is no way for air to diffuse out of the human body .As the gasesare lighter so they try to diffuse out of the water due to this the dead body floats on water

Why do a dead body floats in water even it is heavier than the living body?

Its density, not weight that counts when deciding what floats.

Why does a Human body floats after death?

After a human body dies, it begins to decompose and this causes gases to accumulate which will cause the body to float, temporarily.

How is the weight of water displaced by a floating body related to the weight of the body itself?

As the body floats then the weight of the body and weight of displaced liquid would be equal to each other. Hence it floats
