Your radiator is probably leaking Transmission Fluid into your coolant. Trans cooler is built into the radiator. Replace the radiator.
Leaking hose? Defective thermostat housing or bad thermostat gasket? Bad water pump or gasket? Leak in radiator? Leak at heater core? Leak at head gasket? Coolant recovery tank?
Either the cap is bad, your tank is either cracked at the seam or it has a pin hole that you can't see and the coolant is vaporizing ( steam ).
make sure the cooling system is full and if it still won't go out you need to replace the coolant sensor.
new fuel pump in my 95 grand am se but still not working
Hey Ken==Check the coolant in the radiator WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. Sometimes the coolant recovery bottle wilpopiooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool still have coolant but the rad low. GoodluckJoe
heater core could be plugged, also check for low coolant
Pontiac Grand Prix parts are still available despite Pontiac no longer being in business. Third party auto parts supply companies such as NAPA Autoparts or Auto Parts Warehouse carry parts for the Grand Prix.
1) You actually have a low coolant level. Top off your radiator, bleed out the air in the system, and check the LOW COOLANT light again. 2) The coolant level sensor, located on the coolant recovery tank, has gone bad or became disconnected. Check to see if it is connected. If it is disconnected, plug it in and check for the LOW COOLANT light. If it IS connected, disconnect it and verify that the LOW COOLANT light is still on. While you're in there, check the underside of the oil and radiator caps for sludging or a milky substance which may indicate the intake manifold gasket failure common to these vans equipped with the 3.4L engine.
I'd say they're pretty good I've got a 1997 Grand Gt and it's up at 305 000 and still running strong
Not sure if this helps, but the book I have on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee says that their are 2 of these sensors, I have not had the time to look for the second one. I have the same problem.
