It's purely a matter of taste and or opinion. When a drum is muted is eliminates or controls the amount or presence of overtones increasing the attack and decreasing tone and timbre.
Pr-muffled heads are available to enhance certain positive sounds of the head and drum. (in example, heads that enhance the lows and attack)
A lot of drummers find that using the correct head combination and properly tuning each drum is better than applying muffling.

it doesn't matter.When you hit the drum, it triggers the trigger :| A trigger is a preloaded midi file (i think its midi) so it doesn't matter what sound you make with the heads if your getting triggers.I think you should look at some triggers for your self
