Because usually they don't love her-they love you, they were just being STUPID and looking for some extra you know what. They were being unbelievebly selfish, especially asking you to stay with them after that.

- He has lost interest in his wife but still loves her.
- He enjoys the excitement of sneaking around.
- Having other women boosts his ego.
- He is incredibly immature.
- He doesn't want to lose his wife's income.
- He is using the lover simply for extra-marital sex.
- He wants to maintain the protection of marriage and continue to fool around.
- He doesn't want to lose his home and pay child support.
- He is only using his wife to manage the house, kids and home life.
- He has no morals.

They may enjoy their family life, but want the excitement of sneaking around with their mistress. In some cases people who are wealthy or are in a business partnership with their spouses might divorce, but prefer not to do so because of financial considerations.
