Most of the new TV's display a blue screen when there's no signal for it to lock on. Try unplugging it for about 5-10 minutes and see if that clears up the problem. Why? Because they have microprocessors in 'em (computer chips) and just as like with any other operating system, they can hang up or crash. This isn't an uncommon problem with today's TV sets. Unplugging it for awhile resets the microprocessor (in other words, it causes it to re-boot when you plugit in again).

If there is no "glow" around the edges, then your back light probably has burned out and will need to be replaced. LCD's have a fluorescent backlit bulb and these will burn out over time. See your owners manual or contact the manufacturer for details on how to change this bulb.

∙ 14y agoThere are several things that can cause a lcd tv to have sound but no picture. If the backlight of the lcd panel comes on momentarily when first turned on, the problem is most likely caused by defective backlights which are part of the lcd panel. If there is no backlight when first turned on problem may be inverter circuit or power supply. If the backlights come on and stay on the problem could be the tcon pcb or the main pcb. The tcon is sometimes available but most of the time part of the lcd panel. Unfortunately this symptom usually is cured by replacing the lcd panel which is most cases is cost prohibitive.

With an LCD flat panel TV or monitor, the most common problem is that the back light went dead. It can be either the fluorescent tube or the invertor, which is the high voltage power supply that drives the tube. It could also be the semiconductor that is the switch in the invertor that turns it on and off.You almost certainly are between a rock and a hard place. If you have to come here to ask this question (and no offense is intended or implied), you probably won't be able to do anything to repair the unit yourself. What you can do is call around to some local shops and describe the problem and see what kind of repair costs you might incur having it repaired.
