It is only natural that your diet will consist of what is most commonly grown in your region. Rice is staple food for most people in South India and certain coastal areas. However, wheat is predominantly grown in northern parts of India and hence wheat forms the staple food for North Indians.

Indian agriculture was not very developed so India had been importing to foodgrains and rice but now India is self sufficient and surplus with rice and foodgrains.

Now India is a country exporting rice and foodgrains to some countries, even USA.

rice served in Hotels are usually cooked to a particular temperature and consistency. Its is not overcooked and softened. The variety of rice used is Long grain/ Basmati and basmati rice has fragnance and Flavor.
