Yes this is caused by the Iron Oxide in the soil.

Is it red?? I thought it was a bit greyish because of the Mars Face. If you type the italics in Google it gives you a grey face on the planet. Anyway, thanks for letting me know!

Mars' surface has a large proportion of iron oxide, more commonly known as rust. This compound's properties result in it emitting light mainly in the orange-red part of the visible spectrum, giving the entire planet its famous red appearance.

mars has a reddish brown color because of the iron on its surface which has rusted from the small amount of oxygen in the atmospere.

Mars appears red because it consists mostly of iron oxide, aka, rust. Iron rusts and turns red when it comes in contact with oxygen, and so because Mars is iron rich, and that iron touches oxygen, Mars is red.
