Your car could have a dead battery. Your key opens your electical system only while a jump allows you use the other car's electical system (good battery and all). It could also be a bad starter. Autozone can check your starter, battery, and alternator for free. that happend on our 94 Ford Explorer and it turned out to be a bad wire connecting to the starter!

try using thicker wires . sometimes if the wires are too thin they create too much resistance and don't let as much juice as needed to start the vehicle.you could also have the other driver accelerate the other vehicle and as he does try starting yours. check your lights if they work perhaps try putting your car in neutral and then try starting it.as a last result simply borrow someones battery for a sec.

. your starter is fried-your flywheel may have teeth missing. I can see where the above comment would apply to the jump-start situation. But the flywheel and the starter are not involved in starting during a push-start. When a car is push-started, and the ignition key is ON and the transmission is in gear with the clutch engaged, when clutch is released, the motion of the wheels make the transmission turn, which in turn makes the crankshaft, camshaft and all the compnents necessary to provide the spark that ignites the fuel so the engine can continue to run. If this is not happening, I would srongly suspect a burnt fuse or a bad ignition switch or wire.

It may be because the battery is still dead. Once the car is started with a jump, you need to let the car run for a while so the alternator charges the battery, or it is just going to need to be jupped again and again and again.

if your engine won't start after doing the above, it may because there is some other problem. Some possibilities are a bad battery, a fault with the starter motor or the solenoid or the wiring to them, a problem with the the ignition circuit, or the car's ECU (Engine Control Unit) has a fault.

it should be defective ignition switch...................

It could be anything between the ignition switch and the terminal on the starter solenoid. There may be a bad ignition switch, bad ignition fuse or a bad fuseable link.

Why a car would not start and also not give ANY response when key is turned in ignition?

What happened with me was, my car had a Remote Start system installed. It did not give any problem for several months. But, one day, when I tried to start the car manually using a key, the lights on the dashboard would come and go away in 2 seconds and any attempt to start the car by key would have no effect on car: no lights on dashboard, no engine sound, no clicking sound from Engine Starter. It would not start with Remote Start. Also, all the electrical system in the car would stop working. Workshop guy told me that the remote start circuit was wrongly installed and also remote start unit had some issues. I got the whole Remote Start system removed and things are fine since then.

Can start car with screwdriver on starter changed starter still will not start with key?

Either your starter solenoid, if not check the neutral safety or clutch safety switch.

Why does your remote car starter not start the car when pushing the remote start button turns the engine over?

Your car needs a bypass. All GMs from the mid-nineties up have what they call a passlock system. The only way to get around that is a bypass, if your getting a directed electronics bypass, then its most likely going to be the XK01. On older cars in the early nineties, all they need is a certan resistance, but if your key doesnt have a little black piece below the key head, you WILL need a bypass. Well if this car is a newer Sunfire then it may have a chip in the key which requires a certain resistance on the immobilizer wire. If this resistance is not seen by the car then the car shuts down the fuel pump. If this is not a year with a chip in the key then it may be the fact that the remote starter is not seeing tach anymore or that one of the ignition wires that was wired up is not connected as well anymore

What is wrong with a car that try's to start itself when the key is out of the ignition?

It may be possessed by a demon! OR... Does it have a remote car starter installed? It may be faulty. The ignition switch may be bad. The key goes into the ignition lock. There is usually a rod that goes down to the electrical switch on the steering column. check the electrical switch.

Can you start your car by crossing the solenoid of the starter?

If the key is on and the shift is in park you can safely start the unit by engaging the solenoid with a short jumper wire.

Yes, any car alarm equipped with "starter kill" or "starter disable" will make it impossible to start your vehicle until the system is disarmed with your remote or the vehicle key.

Why would a car with a remote starter start up on it's own?

The remote key uses a radio signal to start the car. This means something else can be on that frequency and causing it to start. Could be something in the system itself.

There is an electrical problem between the starter switch and the starter solenoid. The most likely cause is a loose connection at the solenoid or the fusable link has melted.

Why will Everything work with remote except remote starter lights flash but no start both remotes?

If the lights on the dash all light up but does not crank, this is probably the immobilizer system killing the starter. This is only with cars with a chip in the key and when they put the remote starter in they used a 556u peice and probably took one of your chip keys and installed it in the car. When they wrapped the windings around your key cylinder to "trick the car to thinking the key is being used" they may not have secured it properly. If this car doesn't have a chip key then I'd check to make sure the starter wire (Starter side) is hooked up. On directed electronics products its usually a thick purple wire

What is the problem when the key won't turn in the ignition to start the car it always starts with the remote starter but it can't be driven without the key activating the starter?

you might try to move your steering wheel at the same time you are turning the key in the ingition. The lock mechanism might be in a bind.
