DISH remotes have a feature called Sat Auto-Tune. When SAT is pressed, it will change the TV to whatever channel is programmed into the remote. This can help make sure you are on the right channel in case it gets changed. The steps below will help you disable the auto-tune.
1.) Press and hold the TV mode button until all the mode buttons light up.
2.) Press the STAR (*) button and the TV button will light up.
3.) Enter 00 on the number pad.
4.) Press the POUND (#) button and TV should flash three times.
5.) Press the SAT button and auto-tune will be disabled.
To enable auto-tune simply replace the 00 with the channel required to view DISH Network programming.

Usually, the Emergency alert would be broadcast on one of your local channels. If you are referring to a possible weather issue, you could tune into TWC- The Weather Channel, which can be found on channel 214.

It is going to be on Nick on Halloween 2010! The channel is 33. If you have a TMC box, you can tune on 33 or 101. If you want it in HD, tune on the channel 1733. Hope this advice helps!

DirecTV is not a channel you can just tune in too. The company rents you a dish and the converter needed to access their service. Order HD service even if you don't have a HD set, on a good standard def. set, you can see the better picture quality.
Your set-top box or built-in Digital Tuner should automatically tune to the strongest signal for each channel. There may not be Relays for Digital TV like there were for Analogue so duplicates of a channel using a different number may not exist anyway.
