Don't throw them in the washer (obviously). Take a dish towel and use a dish soap and just rub and rub. Try not to get the pads all that wet though they could get ruined if you dont let them dry before use.
If you dont want to go to the vet and spend 100s of dollars, i clean my cat 3 times a week with lemon dish soap. It worked really well!
