Why is Saint Patrick the patron saint of engineers?
St. Patrick, as the patron saint of engineers, is credited with fostering the development of arts and crafts and introducing the knowledge of the use of lime as mortar in Ireland. He is also responsible for the initial construction of clay churches in Ireland in the 5th century A.D. Another of St. Patrick's achievements was teaching the Irish to build arches of lime mortar instead of dry masonry. These beginnings of ceramic work developed into organized crafts, and that's how St. Patrick became the patron saint of engineers.

First take a look at what a "saint" is in the Catholic Church.Saints in the Catholic Church are all those who are baptized. Butmore specifically, the Catholic Church recognizes by canonization, people whose lives were, after much research and discovery, conclusive of them absolutely being in Heaven. When someone dies,we do not know for sure if they are in Heaven or not, as God is theonly one who can read our hearts. He is the final judge on that. But, there are some people who lived holy lives who have died, andthrough prayer to them asking for their prayers to God for us,miracles have occurred. Catholics believe that if a miracle hasoccurred through the intercession of a particular dead person thenit could have only happened through them if that person were WITHGOD, meaning absolutely in Heaven. . Now we can take a look at what a "patron saint" is. A Patron Saintis someone who did some great religious things when theywere alive and when they were dead they were put up on a pedestalfor being a great person. a canonized saint in theCatholic Church who based on their life experiences (i.e. was ateacher, writer, etc) is classified under that experience for ushere to ask for their intercessions. For example, St. Elizabeth AnnSeton is the patron saint of Catholic Schools. Why? Because she wasthe person who opened the first Catholic school here in America.Catholic School teachers, principals and students can say a prayerto her, asking for her to pray for them to God for their intentions(i.e. we need more money to replace the windows in the school, etc.) St. Peregrine is the patron saint of cancer, so peopleaffected by cancer can ask St. peregrine to intercede forthem.. Saying that we put people on pedestals for being great people iswrong. The pedestal is the last place these saints would want tobe.. Answer Catholic definition: "Patron saints are chosen as specialprotectors or guardians over areas of life." Answer Catholicsbelieve that the saints are before the throne of God and He lovesthe prayers of His Saints, and these include those in Heaven andthose on earth. It is biblical to believe in the Communion ofSaints and to ask that through the merits of Our Lord, that we prayfor one another, in Heaven as well as on earth. Too often there arethose who would script the power of the living God, in this casethat being the efficacious prayers of the saints about us and thosein Heaven. That being said, St. Joseph, the husband of the BlessedVirgin Mary, is especially honored because he is the patron offamilies. Ask him to pray for an adoption and that all would gowell.. Looks as if you copied and pasted this?? What is the source?.

St. Barbara is the patron saint of engineers and builders because of her changing in the design of the tower her father was building. The original design had only had two windows, but Barbara designed it to have three in order to pay tribute to the Holy Trinity. She explained this to her father, and he brought her before the judges and accused her to being a Christian. The judges condemned her to death, and her own father took her up to the mountains where he beheaded her. He was then struck and killed by lightning. This is why St. Barbara is also the protector against fire and lightning.
