not every sphinx has got its nose missing.the sphinx your probably thinking of it the one on the Giza plateau,by the pyramids.there are many theories as to what happened to them.most put it down to natural erosion.I've also heard a theory that Alexander the great ,when he conquered Egypt, wanted to make the monument less recognisable as Egyptian so he ordered the nose ,which was very noticable as African,to be hacked off.
We must remember that the Sphinx nose got knocked out by a age as well as it is an object built many , many centuries ago and as it got weaker it peice the nose fell of. The desert sandstorms to play a part in it.
Rumor is that Napoleon hit it with a cannon while invading Egypt, but I'm not sure exactly so don't go with that unless someone backs me up.
because of wind erosion
The legend was that one of Napoleon's soldiers fired a cannon at the Sphinx, breaking off the nose- however, there is evidence that the damage was done earlier, and not with a cannon. But it makes a good story, does it not?

yes it will
It was blue, yellow and had other colours but the colours were worn off the sphinx later on.
There is no specific date. Some have suggested Napoleon's army shot the nose off with canon balls, but there are sketches of the Sphinx that pre-date Napoleon by 50 years and they show the already Sphinx missing it's nose. On the other hand there are chisel marks that indicate someone climbed up there and used a tool to break off the nose.
The nose.
When no is a noun the plural is NOES. As in "The noes have won the day."
Because it has been buried in the sand so long.
how many noes hairs to people have? how many noes hairs to people have? how many noes hairs to people have?
the Egyptians made a replica of King Khufu (the sphinx) but they were not allowed to make exact replicas of pharaohs so they had to take off the nose.
