I would guess that the evaporative system portion has been damaged. You need Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active. The truck will run fine as the computer compensates for problems. It doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist however. Not getting it fixed will likely lead to bigger problems. Pukenstein@aol.com Always avoid standing water...especially if it is 2ft deep water. Most likely you have corrupted one of 4 sensors on the vehicle. I would venture to guess that the 02 sensor has been compromized by the excessive water, or the coolant temperature sensor, or the Throttle Position Sensor or the Evap Monitor sensor. Go to AutoZone and have a quick diagnostic run for free. Fix the first code problem, disconnect the battery & attempt to start the car 3 times. Re-connect the battery and start the engine. Examine if the CEL re-appears, if so have another AutoZone diagnostic run. Good Luck. Avoid the deep water...easier said than done in the global warming cycle we're in.
You will need to have a technician scan the computer for codes. It is very possible that you have an oxygen sensor problem.
