A cloudy winter day is warmer than a sunny winter day because the clouds reflect the heat radiating from the earths surface and traps them in the atmosphere. On a sunny (cloudless day) the heat radiates out into space and is lost.

on cloudy day the sun rays can't reach the earth surface for evaporation of water which causes cooling, moerover atmosphere is saturated of vapours so evaporation is very less from earth surface as compare to that of sunny day
