This information is for educational purposes only. Even by a doctor or surgeon the procedure is typically against Federal Law to conduct. You first want to make absolutely sure that this is the only alternative procedure to pursue before operating. Most nations do not allow for this operation accept in the most unusual of circumstances (i.e. having trouble with large inmates in a prison with extreme psychotic behaviors etc) While the procedure is fairly simple to perform, it can cause lasting damage and even death. You first want to sedate your patient. Anesthetics are best but electro-shock has also been used to render the patient incompacitated (if using electro-shock be careful. Not only with voltage but the sedation won't last but a few minutes.) Second, you place a cloth gently over the mouth, nose and lower half of the eyes. You then proceed to pull the eyelid up and insert an icepick or similar instrument just below the eyelid, above the eye itself and against the orbital bone. Slowly and carefully push the instrument in and upward until you hit bone. This is the thinest area of the skull. It may take very light tapping with a small hammer on the instrument to get it to break through. Once this is done you can successfully enter the Frontal Lobe (-your instrument should NEVER exceed 7cm deep-) At this point you move the instrument back and forth until the Frontal Lobe is disconnected from the thalamus. (ususally left 3cm then right 3cm 3 to 5 times) You have now successfully severed the terminal nerves in the Frontal Lobe. Third, repeat in the other eye's socket. Your patient will have two very black eyes so you should have a pair of sunglasses for them in order to hide their eyes, now if this doesn't work you could try the old fashioned way. You would have to sedate the patient with anesthetics or electro shock ( recommended to perform at Sea World or be as close to water as possible for maximum conductivity) From here, you would make an incision on the top of the forehead, like a cross formation, sort of like an X sideways. Continuing on, you would plunge your scalpel into the middle of the formation. Then, you would rummage around the cerebral cavity till you would find the one that lights up like a match. Remember: this information is for educational purposes only. Even by a doctor or surgeon the procedure is typically against Federal Law to conduct.

I don't think it's preformed any more, but it used to be preformed on patients in the psychiatric ward as a possible treatment for those who could not be rehabilitated by any other method
