it is tappered to accomodate the gradual volume expansion of the solid charge as it descends through zones of Stack, from top to bottom in the stack the temperature gradually increases and we need to ascertain smooth burden descent.
The blast furnace is a huge, steel stack lined with refractory brick, where iron ore, coke and limestone are dumped into the top, and preheated air is blown into the bottom. The raw materials require 6 to 8 hours to descend to the bottom of the furnace where they become the final product of liquid slag and liquid iron.

Iron is refined by a blast furnace. A furnace is filled with iron ore, coke (which is charcoal made from coal) and limestone. Huge amounts of air are blasted into the furnace, the calcium from the limestone combines with silicates (which are minerals containing silicon and oxygen) to form slag (which is run off ore from the furnace). A layer of liquid iron collects under the slag, at the bottom of the furnace. The liquid iron is periodically let out to cool. Charlie
iron is collected from blast furnace by drilling the taphole.Taphole is a hole drill and plug after cycle of time located in blast furnace bottom.
the blast furnace got its name , because its bottom which is called a furnace blows hot air to go up.
First: Roast the Galena in a blast furnace for 30 minuets. Second: Add Carbon to the blast furnace to remove impurities. Third: Tag off your lead from the bottom of the blast furnace.
Blast furnace = Hochofen
how does the blast furnace maintain the heat ?what is the function of CaCO3 ?how the slag protect the molten iron ?why does iron flow down to the bottom /how does the slag and molten iron get seperated ?what is use of waste gas /what is main impurity of iron in blast furnace ?
Iron is removed from a balst furnace, it melts as it seeps down to the higher temperatures at the bottom of the furnace from where it is tapped off. Hope that helps.
A blast furnace is used to extract iron from its ore.
Its because air is forced into the furnace to increase temperature. Steve.
Govăjdia Blast Furnace was created in 1810.
I would imagine so that it provides a wider base of support for stability and also to create vaccuum to generate more heat. An opening too large will end up with turbulence rather than vaccuum. Any replies to szymkow@bigpond.com
A blast furnace is a forge in which ore is smelted to meal, being intensified by a blast of hot air.
