Communication is the key to sharing the scientific method with others. As a scientist (or for that matter, any profession) being able to communicate your thoughts and ideas (as well as your thinking process) is critical. This is also a vital method to assist you with helping you clarify your own thinking process. It is also important to cross-check information. If I find a result, it is important that it be confirmed by somebody else. Science is partly based on consensus and reproducibility. Without communication, there is no way to make sure that your result is reproduced and confirmed by another scientist.

Also, science is cumulative. In other words, one discovery is often made based on the work of others. If you don't know what other people have done, you have to reinvent everything yourself! To build a new car, you'd have to reinvent the wheel, instead of using everything that people already know about how cars work.

Communication is an important role in science since, since is an intesely social activity, so communication is the key in scientific activities, experiments, etc. Since they share their ideas.

Communication requires three things: a piece of data, a source for that data, and a recipient for the data.

Until the data is understood, we do not yet have communication - we merely have a source and a message.

This is a Very Important concept, for until the science message is understood, the information has not yet been transferred.

This is an important function of 'popular science' journals such as New Scientist, Scientific American, and Science.
