It's insufficient to use movement as a characteristic of life because of how many things have life that do not move, and how many things do move that don't have life. Plants never move, yet exhibit all characteristics of life, while water flowing in rivers exhibits motion, but not life.

Motion is not one of the characteristics of living things. Many living things are incapable of motion during some or all of their life cycles. Motion may be considered a characteristic of animals, as opposed to plants and fungi.

Movement is not-not considered a characteristic af all living things. its actually locomotion that is not considered a characteristic. for example, the sunflower can turn its head towards the sun, i.e., it is exhibiting movement, but it cannot loco-mote. this means it cannot completely displace itself, while humans and other animals can

Breating, in Biology, it's not the process of exhalating and inhalating, it's the process of gas exchange and is more often referenced as respiration, all organisms do respirate, but not all of them breathe.

Movement is not intrinsic to all organisms because not all organisms need to move to reach nutrients. Plants can grow in a single spot because they are able to create their own energy by harvesting sun light, water and carbon dioxyde.

All organisms indeed move, but not like animals. Have you ever seen a long-term exposure shot of growing plants? You can see them moving to always face towards sun!

But it is a characteristic of life. All things move even if you are not aware of it. Plants grow towards the sun and their roots grow down into the soil. This is a type of movement.
