If it ran before, but not now you may have put it on in reverse, or messed up the firing order of the plug wires. refer back to your diagram and verify all the wires are in the right place, the coil wire is attached and all are seated properly
that's probably not the problem. it's probably the spark plugs

The cam sensor should be located underneathe your distributor cap. That is the placement on my 98 Grand Cherokee and it should be located there as well on yours.

Is it a brand new distributor ? If not then replace the module and pick-up coil in the distributor that you have.
I'd dump that old sucker in a heartbeat. Just my opinion...........
