Muslims only recognize Jesus Christ as a prophet. They adhere, somewhat to the writings of their reverenced prophet Mohammed, a normal man who lived and died. Mohammed's claim to fame was his writings. The same with Joseph Smith(mormons) and all others who wanted to start a {religion}
The primary conflict lies in recognition of the Holy Trinity of Christianity, and the recognition of only God the father in Islam. There is only minimal recognition of Jesus Christ (as a minor prophet only - I believe this to be accurate, though recommend further verification) and no recognition whatsoever of the Holy Spirit, in Islam.
there is no real issue between the religion them selves.....
yes there is fighting over land and who it belonged to first
and that it should all be for Christ
not conflict but disagreement
1 . Muslims don't believe Jesus to be god nor the son of god but only a messenger
This is the main source of argument between Christians and Muslims along with other things
We as Muslims are to respect the 'people of the book' ,which means Christians and Jewish people that their religion is based on The Bible.
Many of the teachings of the Islamic faith is also similar of what took place in the bible.
However, many Christians believe that we don't worship God (which in Arabic translation means Allah) We do worhsip Allah (or God in english) and ONLY Allah. However, we don't practice the teachings of Jesus dying on a cross, or the holy spirit stuff.
Many Christian people have lack of knowledge of our Muslim beliefs, which breeds hate and misunderstandings within our religions. (this could be said as well of some Muslims have that ZERO understanding of the Bible and have never picked up a bible and read it so that they can have a deeper understanding of the Christian religion.)
My family etc are Christians. I became Muslim 3 1/2 years ago and I am happy to be Muslim. Muslims and Christians CAN get along with no conflict. We all have great respect for each others religion and practices. Any disagreement over any religious topic, we leave at the front door and don't allow that to effect our relationship.
We as Muslims welcome questions, because with questions comes understanding, education, and knowledge of each other so we can all live in harmony.
We Christians have to tolerate by law, Islamic promotion but, in Islamic countries Christians are persecuted and not allowed freedom of expression, they are not allowed to build new churches, they are not allowed to repair any church, they are supposed to give a Muslim their seat on public transport.
As much as Muslims say they respect Jesus, in actual fact they don't because they deny His resurrection and indeed His death on the Cross even though there is historical evidence for Jesus' death and His resurrection.
Answer B (Comment on Answer A above)The problems between Christians and Muslims are due to political reasons and never were due to religious reasons. The arguments, in answer A, above reflect the personal opinion of the answerer and not based on objective reasons for the following:
It is a characteristic of proselytising monotheistic religions for followers to believe so firmly in the truth of their faith that they feel it quite wrong to find others who believe equally firmly in a different faith. The conviction that those who follow another religion are at best foolish and ill-informed, at worst deliberately manipulating the truth, can be so strong that some believers feel something must be done about this. When you have two different religions with followers who can feel the same way, conflict can eventuate.
After the Muslim Arabs were victorious, provided the Christians submitted, they were allowed to continue with their ordinary lives. From time to time, and from place to place, it happened that the humiliations suffered by Christians were very difficult to bear. For example, in some places Christians were not allowed to ride horses, or to have bells on their churches. Their submission had to be obvious to all.
Of course, sometimes the boot was on the other foot, and here the Crusades immediately come to mind as a time that Muslims remember as a period of oppression by Christians.
Difficulties still continue in some places, yet there is hope that, provided everyone treats each other with respect, and tries to understand the other person's point of view, there should not be conflict between Christians and Muslims.
In those lands where Christians, or Christian values, predominate, it has to be said that considerable efforts are made to achieve equality amongst all the people, irrespective of colour or religion, and so on, and to overcome prejudice. While these efforts do not always achieve the desired outcome and discrimination against Muslims will still happen, it can be acknowledged that efforts are being made to deal with this kind of problem.
On the other hand, in some lands where Muslims are in the majority, Christians continue to suffer major disabilities, ranging from outright persecution, to just being excluded from higher level jobs. In some places, just converting to Christianity can result in the loss of life. This is something that only the secular and religious leaders of those nations can rectify. We hope that that will happen.
