Built to commerate an alliance during the American Revolution, the Statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886 and designated as a National Monument in 1924. because she wants to! or so it will look more detailed.
The Statue of Liberty as significant meaning to the Unites States. It is a sign of our freedom and friendship with France. Lady Liberty could be a target for terrorism, that is most likely the reason it is protected.
The Statue of Liberty was built in France 1882, was transported to America on October 28, 1886 and was then pronounced the Statue of Liberty. France and America both worked on the Statue of Liberty. France was building the actual statue and America was working on the foundation for the statue. Both had trouble financing their efforts so the statue was actually about 10 years late from the time the visionaries wanted to dedicate the statue. Anyhow, the statue was completed in July of 1884 in France but the foundation for her wasn't completed until 1886 in America. On October 28, 1886 the dedication of the statue took place after she had been transported from France to the US in crates and then reassembled.
So that it would still look its age.

It's important to the world because it shows a sign of peace between countries, it's also important to immigrants because they think of it as freedom to a country that you can move up in with technology, health care and anything else imaginable.
WEll, there is the Empire State Building (but that's not really a STATUE) so a big statue in New York would definitely have to be the famous Statue Of Liberty!! lildancer99<33
