Why do Bay of Bengal cyclones cause more damage than other places?

The eastern coast of India is more prone to cyclones than the western coast due to several reasons. One reason is the temperature of the sea surface and humidity. The Bay of Bengal receives high average rainfall, which increases the probability of cyclone formation in this region. Additionally, states on the east coast have relatively flatter, plain land as compared to the country’s western coast, preventing any deflection of winds. This makes the long shoreline of Andhra pradesh an easy target for most storms.
