What is wrong with the air conditioning unit if it is running outside but no air is blowing in the vents inside?

Same thing just happened to me. My neighbor shut off the power to the outside unit and replaced the capacitor. The capacitor is in the outside unit. This was only a $20 part and easy to install. It took about 5 minutes. Just take off the panel on the outside unit and unplug the old one and plug in the new. MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE OUTSIDE UNIT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.

∙ 12y agoThere are several reasons, No power to the out side unit, contactor could be bad, low voltage wire from inside to the outside can be broke, the capacitor could be bad or the motor it self is bad. also if it is not an entry level unit, it may have low pressure switch and low freon charge witch will not anything to run.

∙ 14y agoThe blower motor is not working due to a bad motor, broken blower wheel, or capacitor. It could also b due to a very dirty evaporator coil or simply a very dirty filter

No. They can't get through the enclosed system and inside the house there is a filter. When a filter is changed all that is seen is dust.

Sounds like it needs re-gassed. If the ac is only working at 20% then when its hot the air blowing may feel warm, but when the air outside cools it feels colder inside. Hope this helps
