Macoroni penguins feed on Krill and Krill feed on plankton that grow under the sea ice shelves and due to climate change there is less ice on the Antarctic Ocean. This reduction in sea ice leads to reduction in Krill Population, and the numbers to reach adult stage has decreased significantly because without sea ice the larvae starve (Atkinson et al, (2004). So less Krill means a decline in macaroni penguins.
