Apple is known for naming all their products with a lowercase i in front of their names. This goes back to the original iMac which had easy internet connection in mind to get people onto the emerging World Wide Web. Since then, iMac, iBook, iPod, iPhone, iPad have followed this tradition. It really isn't for the "internet" reason anymore, and more to all conform to Apple's product names.

∙ 13y agoApple originally adopted the "i" for their product names, starting with the iMac in 1998, to indicate that they were Internet friendly at a time when it could be difficult for inexperienced users to set up an Internet connection. This naming convention has continued with other products such as iPods and iPads.
