Why a dog twitches: Well first off, he/she should'nt twitch when they are not sleeping. Or they may have a bug like a tick. This can simply be solved with tick or bug cream at any local store that sells pet products. IF he/she is sleeping and is twitching, there are many reasons for it. like:

1. The dog is having a bad dream. IF he is moaning, then he if having a night mare. You should gently wake the dog up, give it you'r sent and give it a bone or a treat.

2. if the dog starts randomly growling, emedeatly wake it up!! It is having a wash-out. Were it replaces its real life with its dream. This could become a tumor, if not quickly woken up.

3. If a dog twitches its ears when its sleeping, he is having a nice dream, try not to wake him ;)

4. Also if the dog is gently snoring he/she is having a nice dream. No matter what kind of snore it is, it doesnt matter depending on the dog.

5. If a dog twitches his tail in his dream, put some food in front of him/her that they could eat. they could be in pain in their dreams and food will wake them. WHAT EVER YOU DO, don't wake them up by tapping them or any thing. That can scare them and they could bite you, don't hit them if they do. It is a force of reaction. Because they were probably in a fight in their dream.

All dogs twitch in their dreams, but not all do the same thing.

This is a natural defense to constantly check ones surroundings for any dangers such as predators. The sense of hearing is constantly used as the eyes may be averted to something distracting such as eating.

It could be alot of things, first observe him.

> Is it cold out?

> Is he a nervous dog?

> What time of the day does he shake? Does he shake after he eats a certain food?

> How long has this happened?

> Is he awake and consious (responsive) when he shakes?

> Does he drool at all when he shakes?

> It could be a nuerological problem, low blood sugar or hypoglcimia, to something like extreme illness. I would see the vet. This is not normal, and should be taken care of. Good luck!

> The person who answered above this does not know anything!!! A lot of small dogs shake, mine does and he is a perfectly HEALTHY pure-bred Italian Greyhound!!! It's just something that they do.

might be a muscle spasm, or it could be a slight cramp, if it happens after exercise, its probably because you don't have enough water or air, (water-it constricts to save space to use less water), (air-not enough air for ATP synthase, so it goes through lactic fermentation) the "soar" feeling we get is the lactic acid burning our muscles because the acid wasn't absorbed by our muscles, so stretch out and it will start absorbing the acid

Yes, this is perfectly normal! Though no one knows for sure why the dog does this, many believe that it is because they are dreaming.

In some extreme cases of this behavior, the dog will yip or growl, and begin to pump his/her legs as if running, all while asleep, sometimes causing them to "run" straight into something like a wall or table leg.

It's usually just because they are dreaming. Mine twitches his feet in his sleep and apparently it's because he's running in his dream. He also slightly barks in his sleep.

Dogs instinctively don't like their feet to be touched (because in the wild, a damaged foot could lead to death).

Why is the three toed sloth the slowest mammal?

Well, I'm not completely sure of this, but in my science class we were talking about slow- twitch muscles (like your esophagus for example) and fast twitch muscles (like your leg muscles). Anyway, I asked do sloths have slow twitch muscles in their legs, and he said to look it up, so I did, and it turns out they do! So the reason is they have slow twitch gastrocnemus (calf) muscles!
