You're getting worse after 4 weeks? 6 weeks? After 6 weeks of therapy its best to go back into the doc to get re-evaluated, if the therapy is not improving your condition. 8 weeks max. Therapist are a dime a dozen. So many of them with different studies and beliefs. Make sure you have the right therapist for the job.

I believe physical therapy is good for Exercises For Weak & Painful Knees, but if the knee pain getting worse, I suggest to get some advise from the Doctor would be better.
