Norton was canned because he is notorious for being a hostile control-freak who has kicked directors out of the editing process in the past- he doesn't work well in an ensemble cast, and he's difficult to work with, reportedly being more concerned with himself than the integrity of a group as a whole. He was replaced because they needed an actor who could actually work with a team of other big name actors.

∙ 11y agoIt's a two-sided story: Marvel says Edward wasn't who they wanted, Edward says it was about the money (since Marvel called him out-of-the-blue during price negotiations to tell him they decided to go another way).

∙ 10y agoEd Norton refused to promote "Incredible Hulk" when it was released as he went to Africa instead. That may have resulted in the role being recast for later films.
