Yes, but not forever. Each US state has different rules and regulations for regaining the right to vote. Some do that automatically after the full term has been served (incuding any parole time) and others make the convicted felon jump through hoops with filing applications and other paperwork.

This is a real easy answer. Have you herd the term no taxation without representation. If a ex felon does not have the right to vote said person is denied government representation. By law this person if not allowed to vote cannot be taxed. On the same note I believe ex cons should be exempt from military draft and conscription.
