Well, because:
1) Intoxication leads to wrong doing, law-breaking and confusion/being unfocused. It changes the way you think and too much leads to you unknowingly doing stupid things.
2) Too much alcohol leads to heart problems, liver failure and even cancer.
3) If you drink way to much and are intoxicated for most of the time, this could lead to mental health problems.
4) Also if you have an incredibly large binge drink you could get alcohol poisoning and in some cases the brain simply can't cope and shuts down.
So in conclusion, if you want to be sane, healthy and alive, I would drink in moderation.
