HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes a person to develop AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.) HIV is transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen, vaginal fluid or breast milk.
Teens represent a "high-risk" population for STD (sexually transmitted disease). HIV is no exception. That fastest growing group of infected people in the United States are under 25 years old.
If teens learn how to effectively avoid HIV infection when they are younger and prior to exposure, it is more likely that they will stay HIV negative.
