this is complicated but i think this the right; It was an epidemic, or a series of epidemics, of Bubonic Plague that lasted for several decades in the 14th century and wiped out between one third and one half of the population of Europe. The plague was spread by the bites of fleas that were carried on rats.

Unsanitary living conditions contributed to its spread. People of that time did not know how the disease was spread or how to protect themselves from it.

Another reason the Black Death happened is because of the increased demand for trade between the Mediterranean. The increase in trade brought about an increase in ships traveling around the African continent which increased the inscription of sailors which increased the incidents of sailors abandoning their ships.

Along with the movement of products which carried the rats that carried the fleas, the sailors would get sick and abandon their ships or the captain would throw them overboard and then they would spread the decease.

Also the symptoms were red lesions surrounded by white bumps. Which created the kids song. "Ring around the rosie" Referring to the white ring around the red lesions "Pocket full of Posies" People thought that carrying herbs and/or flowers would help ward off the disease But that was not of any help; "Ashes, ashes" Ashes to ashes "We all fall down" Dead

i copied and pasted this btwIf you check snopes.com, you will find that there can be no connection between the Black Death and this childrens' song.

They had no personal hygiene and would throw the dead people onto the streets were children would play so it just kept killing because they never isolated it properly and thus did not stop till the immune systems of the afflicted people were able to somewhat fight it off

If you mean, "Why was the outbreak of the bubonic plague in the 13th and 14th centuries in Europe particularly deadly, compared to other (global) outbreaks?", then there are several factors:

  1. While the bubonic plague has existed for at least several thousand years, Europe had not experienced any significant epidemic for well over a thousand years. Thus, the existing European population had very little genetic resistant to the infection. Thus, infection and death rates were much higher than other places in the world which had had more recent epidemics.
  2. Recent expansion of trade with various parts of the globe meant that the particular method of transmission (flea-infested rats) could quickly and easily travel to all parts of Europe. In particular, this mean that quarantine was effectively impossible as a means to contain the epidemic.
  3. The increased economic activity of the High Middle Ages rapidly increased the size of towns and cities throughout Europe. The percentage of population that were urban-dwellers in 1300 was over twice that in 1000. Unfortunately, standards of urban hygiene were abysmal, making a perfect place for the infection-bearing rats (and their plague-transmitting fleas) to swarm, bringing them in close contact with humans.
  4. Religious beliefs and superstitions made any reasoned and effective attempts to combat the spread impossible. Thus, there was no real medical response to the plague, other than mass panic.

The black death occurred because of a virus that was found in rats that were bitten by fleas which transferred the virus to humans. In the time of the black death it was normal to only wash twice a year at the most and so the fleas could easily breed and live on humans without being washed away. nowadays the black death is only found in science labs and it can be cured with various drugs. In the middle ages the black death was able to spread accross the world through ports, as most boats had rats living on them coupled with unwashed sailors sailing accross the world and bringing disease with them.
