Kapt. Sven W. Thienemann built the private yatch "Christina" for Aristotle Onassis. Kapt. Sven then became the captain of the yacht for Mr. Onassis. A more extensive answer: Onassis' M/Y Christina O was converted from HMCS Stormont, a River class frigate bearing pennant number K327. She was built at Vickers' Yard in Montreal in 1942-43 to a British Admiralty design prepared by one William Reid. She saw service in the Atlantic during WWII and was decommissioned in November 1945. In 1954 she was sold out of reserve to Onassis for the princely sum of $34,000. Onassis had her converted to a yacht at a reported cost of $4 million, rough $50 M in today's money. He chose her, so it was reported, because the "River" frigates were, at the time, the fastest ships at sea, and they were driven by quiet steam engines as opposed to noisy diesel engines. The conversion was performed by Kieler Werft, Kiel, Germany, under the direction of Naval Architect Caesar Pinnau according to wishes communicated directly to him from Onassis. Kapitän Thienemann, a Hamburg based "Cape Horner" (in sailing ships) and skipper of a German whale catcher at the time Onassis bought the entire remnants of the German whaling fleet in the early 1950s, was M/Y Christina O's skipper all-right, but he was not the designer nor the builder of the vessel in any of her incarnations. Thienemann became her skipper by prior request from Onassis, who knew him from the whaling fleet, after M/Y Christina O was put into commission after her conversion. After many name changes she sails again (2011) as M/Y Christina O and may be chartered - if you have enough money: $60K per day, last I heard.
