MTV was created as Music Television, that changed not that long ago. The last time they did an actual music video show was 2014. Now it is reality tv. MTV was not the only music channel. There is, now, NickMusic and VH1.

∙ 10y agoMTV was so important because it allowed record labels to promote their videos much easier, converting that to sales. This was a massive progress to the music industry. Before, people had to see the artist perform live or blindly buy the record, but now they had a much easier way to "advertise" the artist 24/7!
