There is no evidence that Pope Pius IX was ever a Freemason, much less that he was excommunicated by them. All of the evidence points to the fact that they were bitter enemies.

There was an article published in 1922 purporting that someone had seen his signature on a supposedly secret document proving that he was a Freemason. This has all the signs of a hoax or worse, anti-Catholic Propaganda.

In any case, nobody can be "excommunicated" by the Freemasons. To be excommunicated means to be denied communion. Since Freemasonry is not a religion and does not espouse any particular religion they do not offer any religious sacraments to their members and have no control of what happens in their respective places of worship.
