The war between Russia and Germany started simply because Hitler wanted to control the World.

Before Hitler invaded Poland he signed a pact with Russia, which shocked people because Hitler was against communism and Russia was a communist state.

Hence when Hitler invaded Poland the Russian's did not attack and in return they received the eastern parts of Poland.

Hitler signed this treaty because he did not want war on two fronts., but in June 1941 Hitler, thinking that the war with Britain was unimportant by then, marched into Russia because they were not expecting it because of the Treaty, and secondly because he valued their land.

AnswerAlso, Hitler viewed the Russians as subhuman . At the time Russia was also ripe for the picking . Stalin's purges had decimated the Russian officer corps, leaving for the most part only political lackeys in high military leadership. This combined with poor military infastructure left them very vulnerable . AnswerDuring the time of World War II, Russia, or the USSR as it was then known, was a communist society; NOT a democracy. Adolf Hitler viewed communists as subhuman, and because the USSR was a communist society, it was directly classified as subhuman itself. AnswerIt started when Hitler launched operation Barborossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union.
