Spain was able to conquer the Americas so rapidly because the natives (Incas and Aztecs) had not been exposed to the diseases present in the livestock that the Europeans had. This meant that they had no natural defenses against the diseases. In addition, the Spanish had armor and horses. Horses were not native to the Americas, so the natives were at a disadvantage not only in defense from disease, but defense of the physical body.

Additionally, they brought over diseases with them that decimated 90 percent of the people living in the Americas. That made it easier for the Spanish to take over more territory.

∙ 12y agoBecause King Phillip the second was king of Spain at the time, it's said that they had the best foot soldiers in all Europe AT THE TIME called "TERCIOS". This bastards were able conquer land because they got first also. Amerindians didn't researched military that much ( a weapons disadvantage), most of them researched agriculture and a few researched astronomy. Also because of the diseases they brought, and that the Amerindians were not immune to.

∙ 12y agoThe spanish sent their daughters to every country in Europe, and married the prince, making Spain "ruler of the world". since Spain was so rich, the printing press was made, so people were questioning more and more little ties that sent the spanish to find more land. Christopher Columbus came back to Spain with shame and failure. but after he died, people started to see that tobacco and other new things from America was also worth a lot of money. since they were rich, and had control of all countries, the spanish ruled the Americas from Florida to below that. then the line of demarcation was created,telling all of Europe that everything west of it was property of Spain. the treaty of tordesillias moved that line 800 miles west, giving Brazil to Portugal. (that's why the brazillians speak portuguese.)By this time, England was rising to power; almost over Spain. then the spanish armada was formed. the English fleet of light, weak and fast ships beat the spanish heavy and slow ships. also people say that the "druids over great Britain" completed this battle with heavy storms,
and shallow rivers, to ensure the English victory. the spanish fleet was so heavily invested on, that the spanish were BROKE, therefore allowing other European countries to explore America and kick out the spanish. if it wasnt for this legendary battle, America would have never formed. (food for thought)
