How the word Zeus derives exactly is unclear, but its oblique cases, the genitive Dios, dative Dii and accusative Dia, seem to indicate derivation of "Zeus" from the Indo-European word for "day," making it and Jupiter different versions of the same name.
Because Romans had different thoughts than the Greeks . they believed in different gods so they changed the names and worship them.
