Hitler made the Jews the scapegoat for everything that was wrong in Germany and convinced enough people that they were taking up space that would be better used by his "Master Race" of Aryans; or if you really mean why it was done in the camps instead of somewhere else, that was more or less a business decision - mass executions were more efficient. It also hid the truth to some extent. People knew that their neighbors had been taken away to a "camp" but in the beginning very few people knew the true purpose of these camps.

Slaughtering Jews publicly, in the streets, in full view of the public, might have aroused sympathy. It would also have been a form of public disorder - something the Nazi leadership disliked. This happened in Bucharest, the capital of Nazi Germany's ally, Romania, the Nazis ordered a halt to public killings. After all, it made everything just a little too obvious.

The Jews were treated horribly in concentration camps. Often times they would be shot if they were not working hard enough, sometimes they were made to dig a grave and then they were shot and buried in it. The Jewish people had to do a variety of horrible jobs and they were to be done when they were to be done. If you had something to say about it you would have been shot. Men, women, and children lived in their barracks didn't get much to eat and if they survived their fitness check up and went to do the labor work and not be gassed then they would be worked to the bone and when they were no longer healthy they would be killed.

Well because Auschwitz is located in a area which had rich soil, good for agriculture uses and Jews along with other prisoners was sent to do labour which was helping with the agricultured along with other jobs, but eventually it was getting abit pack and when hitler introduced gas chambers in concertrating camps in western Poland, auschwitz done same thing and made large gas chambers to exterminate the jews in the camps. Auschwitz is a concentration camp and not a extermination camp because they use jews to do work, which helps the economy

The first time Jews were put into concentration camps for being Jewish was after Kristalnacht, some were returned, some perished and others stayed in the system. In 1940 some were held in labour camps, but it was not really until 1941 that Jews were rounded up and put wholesale into concentration camps.
