The term Landmark is tossed around very loosely in judicial and political circles- nothing to do with physical structures such as say, the Washington Monument- but does refer to historically important legal cases ( as a judicial history term) for example all of Cicero"s legal cases were considered landmarks by modern reckoning. certainly the War-Crimes trials of Nuremburg- they went on for years, would fit the landmark category. there were many people of interest such as close personal aides to Hitler- chauffeurs, cryptographers, secretaries, who were not, to my knowledge, ever formally tried or even called in as ( Expert witnesses).
