Because that's the way girls are...... just kidding.
From personal (past) experience, I can tell you that to some girls (and guys) the fun is all in the chase. Once they know that they can get what they want from you (i.e., the gift), it's just not as "fun" to them. Not saying that this is necessarily the case in your situation, but it is something to consider. I would bring your feelings up to the girl if this is really bothering you. There could possibly be a very reasonable explanation.
