The folders might be just moving to the bottom of the screen. AOL might be updating the folder with a property change somehow and it causes the sort to go out of wack. There are questions that need to be asked, 1. Do the folders or shortcuts ever come back? If they are permanently gone, then I would suggest just using internet Explorer, or better yet, firefox mozilla. You probably have some kind of virus or Trojan horse on the computer otherwise. I would go to www.trendmicro.com and run a free online virus scan to see if this solves your problem.
AnswerThe short answer is, because it's AOL. I usually refer to it as Almost On Line.If you only deleted it from the favorites, in should be in the recycle bin and can be recovered. If you emptied the recycle bin, there is little you could do except make a new folder and attempt to replace everything in the folder that has been deleted.
If you delete a folder then everything in it will be deleted. So if there are files in it, they will be deleted. So always be careful when deleting folders.
In Windows when a shared folder is moved, the folder is no longer shared. The same rule applies to copied and deleted folders.
