You can actually download Windows Live Messenger for Mac here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/messenger/default.mspx
If you are running Windows on a Mac then you can use the Windows Live software. If you do not have Windows on your Mac you can use a Windows live HotMAil account or use Messenger for chat. (See links below)
To use the Windows version of any software on a Mac will require the Windows operating system be installed on the Mac. Microsoft is due to update the Mac version of Messenger any day now.
Microsoft make a version of MSN Messenger for the Mac (See links below) .

A good messenger service to be used for mac would be MSN Messenger or Microsoft Messenger for MAC. There are several other services that you could use for MAC depending on your personal preferences and needs.
Most of the instant messaging services, MSN, AIM, Yahoo, etc., will work for Macs and Windows.
Windows 7 will work on a recent Mac (See links below).
Games written for the Windows operating system require the Windows operating system to work. If the Mac has Windows installed on it then it will work otherwise it will not work.
Microsofts MSN Messenger and HotMail will work on Apple Mac computers. (See links below)
Windows games are written to work with the Windows operating system. The Mac does not use the Windows operating system and so the game will not be able to work on a Mac. You will need to install the Windows operating system on your Mac or some software that emulates the parts of the Windows system that the game needs to have a Windows game work on a Mac.
