Best Answer

Yes.

Your TV band radio will no longer work.

You would need to have a radio with a tuner capable of picking up the new digital TV format. I don't know of any such product currently on the market.

Digital radio (marketed under the name HD Radio) is a completely different technology.

Will the analog to digital tv change affect radio?

Hi, Not really. TV and radio are completely two different animals. Radio will soon go digital and I think that'll probably be the next wave of new consumerism. Hope this helps, Cubby

In wireless analog or digital signal travel?

Analog and digital signals can both be transmitted wirelessly. Wireless internet (Wi-Fi), for instance, uses digital. AM and FM Radio uses analog. Cell phones are digital. Cordless phones can be digital or analog.

How could a digital signal from outer space be picked-up?

Radio "signals" are always analog, not digital. To send a digital signal, it must be converted to analog format, and then the received signal has to be re-converted to digital. So the Voyager and Viking space probes, for example, include a digital-to-analog converter attached to the radio transmitter, and the radio receivers here on Earth are routed through an analog-to-digital converter to make sense of them. You yourself may have such an "analog-to-digital" converter; they are called "modems", or "modulator/demodulator".

What is the difference between podcasting and older medium of radio?

Analog radio was broadcast from a studio out to listeners for a certain distance. Digital Radio is similar in what is broadcast but the quality of signal is better with Digital then analog. Podcasting is done over the Internet and is a rebroadcast of radio

When were digital radios invented?

The radio has gone through many changes including a switch from analog to digital. The first digital radio was invented in the late 1960s.

Is there an equivalent to the tv digital set top box for your analog radio?

What are analog and digital signals?

Analog radio signals cause characteristic changes, or modulations, in the radio waves that carry them: amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM). An old technology compared to newer digital signals such as satellite and high definition radio, differences that distinguish analog radio from digital radio include signal characteristics, sound clarity and cost.Type of Signal Transmission1. Carrier waves -- invisible forms of electricity and magnetism that travel wirelessly from radio broadcasting stations to radio receivers -- transmit AM, FM and digital HD radio programs. Digital signals transmit via pulses or digits of binary code, a language based on the numbers 0 and 1, before decoding.Clarity of Sound2. FM analog radio signals encounter interference when large objects such as mountains or buildings enter the intended path of travel, and cannot bend, unlike AM analog signals. An interrupted analog signal results in a crackling, unclear radio station. Digital radio signals generally don't experience interference errors, although bad weather can severely affect satellite stations.Cost3. Most perks have a catch. Satellite radio plays very few commercials, but there's a subscription fee and you must buy a satellite specific receiver. While free, traditional AM/FM radio and HD radio include commercial advertisements. To hear HD radio, you need a specific HD receiver. Digital HD receivers can play both analog and HD radio stations, but traditional analog receivers can stream only AM/FM stations.

What is analog device?

Analog devices are machines and components that react or work in a linear manner, often with an ability to make a continuous change. For example, a volume knob on a radio could be an analog device because it controls audio power output over a continuous range. Many amplifiers, power supplies, and radios use analog devices for generating or processing analog signals. Digital devices are machines and components that are always found in one specific state or another, rather than in some range between two points. Many analog and digital systems are designed to simulate the best features found in the other type of system, e.g., analog controls on a digital CD player, or digital controls on an analog radio.

What is an analog native?

A person who has grown up using analog radio, analog TV, and walkman. Opposite of digital native who has grown up using computers, internet, and MP3.

You h ave radio which receives television channels and therefore listen to some television programs over the radio will you still be able to receive television through your old radio after the digital?

No I am afraid not. The radio you have was built for reception of analog television audio. Once all the broadcasters switch their mode of transmission from analog to digital, all their signals going out over the air will be in a digital format.
