If the hamster is chewing the bars of the cage, nothing as long as you keep an eye on the cage bar and make sure that the hamster is not eating through the cage! If it is chewing the cage bars it's a sign that he wants to come out. However if your mean that you are feeding him wire then stop cos it'll get caught in the hamsters throat or organs and cause a very traumatic death!
I don't think hamsters can chew through metal. I have a hamster, sometimes he chews on the metal bars. He never bit a hole in the bar. When he chews on the bars, I just give him a chew toy.
They won't chew through it. But they are very smart my hamster found out where the doors are in the cage. He could get out any day
Hamsters may chew furniture to make bedding but not to eat it.
Any hamster can chew on cardboard. Just be careful and make sure the hamster is safe so he doesn't chew a hole out of it to escape or whatever :)))
Yes, like apple orchid chew sticks right? They can definitely eat that I give it to my hamster
If you have a wire cage, your hamster can chew on it all the time. Make sure you give him/her enough chew sticks. Your hamster needs enough things to chew on so that his/her front teeth don't grow too long then they won't be able to eat and pass away. On the other hand, if you have a like a cardboard box, (I'm pretty sure no one does) it is not OK yo let you hamster chew on its cage because they can chew a whole right threw the box then your hamster is gone.
it will chew on it and eventually it will destroy it If you're talking about a real hamster and not a robotic one; hamsters are pretty unsophisticated when it comes to what they eat. We had a litter once that had one little one that had a bad foot, and the other hamsters ate it - I mean, ALL GONE! It was a little gross, but what do you do? Sorry, but you can't put a Syrian hamster with a Roboroski hamster, because although Roboroski hamsters are social, Syrians are not and will amost definitely fight.
No. If you have a metal cage, it can't chew through it unless it's a squirrel ;)
No, they'll chew through it and escape.
Is cuttlefish bone safe for hamsters to chew on
YES but they dont actully eat it . they could spit them out
Only if they are trying to pull something through the bars of their cage.
after long enough probably.
Hamsters will chew on anything. Some hamsters are chewers and others are not interested. They will chew on plastic, wood, metal and pretty much anything else if they want to. They need to chew to keep their incisors down as they grow. I've seen some pretty crazy chewing and I've yet to have seen a hamster break his teeth. Try some chews toys if you have a chewer. Little non-flavored Milkbones are always a favourite.
No They Will Die.
Hamsters may chew furniture to make bedding but not to eat it.
All rodents have to keep chewing to wear down their teeth, which never stop growing. I have seen squirrels chew through the heavy gauge wire on a chain link fence, and I have no doubt a mouse could chew through stainless steel if it was not too thick.
Hamster can and will chew on a variety of objects. Hamsters are rodents and chew to keep their teeth short. Cardboard is a material hamsters seem to enjoy. Cardboard itself is not harmful to hamsters, but it is possible the ink or glue used in the manufacturing of the product's boxes may health problems. However, many people provide their hamsters with boxes for chewing, hiding, or entertainment with no adverse effects.
Mice cannot chew through metal bars, even if they are thin. They can, however, chew through wood, even if it is quite thick. So the solution is to use the right material, not to make the cage thick.
