Flannery O'Connor should also be noted as a southern gothic writer, she, like Faulkner, could be brutal. Some say the south produced such amazing writers as, Tennessee Williams, Walker Percy, Maya Angelou (born & lived in the south during her youth) because the south lost her innocence long before the rest of the nation, losing the Civil War.
