Would Karl Marx's 'dictatorship of the proletariat' be despotic or democratic?

Despotic. He himself referred to it using this very word in the Communist Manifestos, where he claimed that the Dictatorship of the so-called Proletariat would have to result to despotic measures, like seizing control of the army and using it to invade nearby Capitalist territories in order to spread Communist Imperialism.

He also published the "Ten Pillars", a guide of steps that he decreed essential to the establishment of a communist government, which reads like a "How-To" guide for establishing totlaitarianism. The Ten Pillars demand that everything from food to schooling to media be controlled solely by the state, and that any who disobeyed were to be forcibly exiled and their property seized by the state for it's own use.
