Some students use too much time and money to get a one test to be accepted.
We already have IQ testings to prove one is better than other. So, exams are not necessary to prove which who's better scholar. Einstein, Thomas Edison and many other scientists didn't even pass middle school. Having exams and getting a good grade doesn't mean one's life is going to be better off.
I think we should go back to the old system my parents always talk about. If you had a high enough mark by the end of the semester, you didn't have to take the exam. If your mark gets high enough, an exam will almost certainly lower it, useless in my opinion
