∙ 14y agoNo. This is part of the reason employers hire workers either as independent contractors or on 100 percent commission. If you were a true employee, they could control your pay, hours, working conditions, hours, etc. and be liable if you were let go through no fault of your own. This way they are not required by the state to pay unemployment taxes like employers who hire people for the "normal" reasons, and the state, who pays out of the unemployment 'pool' does not pay you unemployment.

∙ 14y agoEach state requires that you report any gross earnings you receive while getting unemployment compensation. Whether you receive any benefits each week depends on what your gross earnings were for that week, as the compensation will be offset by your earnings.
