You may be able to trip the lock by sliding a steel rule between the glass and the weatherstrip.I struggle to understand why the handle was disconnected,and the door closed in this state.Do you mean it just fell apart actually?Most lock operating rods just hook in a hole and secure with a clip.If all else fails,you will have to force the inner door trim down sufficient to get a hand inside the door. Are you in AA/RAC? The patrols are aware of the best way to access locked doors on all types. I am also wondering if you have the childlock on,does the door open from outside but not the inside?If this were the case,just open the door and reset the little lever adjacent to the lock on the door frame.

the linkages have either been removed/disconnected from inside the door panel (maybe parted out) or the frame has torqued (as in a crash) and they are jammed If handle has no resistance the handle it's self is broken. When handle has a constant lite resistance from a spring it will be linkage from handle to latch disconnected or damaged (The linkage has small plastic clips holding it in place on each end and break fairly easily.)
